I’ve been evaluating the business side of my art lately, and I’m going to explore the following:
- Offering Prints
Just selling originals may not be the play right now, so I’m looking into prints. Signed, limited editions have a better chance of taking off than originals, and they’re much more affordable for buyers.
- Creating Digital Art
This has always been in my plan. I actually spent a year on my iPad drawing with Procreate before I ever touched traditional media. But I noticed I was picking up bad habits—too much erasing, leaning on the undo button—so I switched to pencil and paper. I even deleted a year’s worth of work; none of it was very good. Now that I have a stronger foundation, I want to combine the discipline of traditional drawing with the flexibility of digital. I still plan to keep my own style in the digital realm.
- Creating Art NFTs
I’ve never been involved with NFTs or cryptocurrency, but a business partner recently suggested the idea. I spent last weekend learning about art NFTs, and I’m definitely interested—especially in today’s fast-paced digital world. I’m not going all-in right away, but I’d like to test it out and see if it can expand my audience. I’ll share more as it develops.
- Creating AI Art
I’ve never seen AI art as a threat or a competitor—it’s just another tool, like the camera or Adobe Illustrator were in their day.
I’m not deeply familiar with it yet, but I think I could train an AI model on my own past work and use it to create original AI pieces or references for traditional projects. These AI works could also pair well with NFTs—a purely digital process, but still rooted in my own style and prompts.
- Routine Newsletter
I never run out of content, but I probably share too much too often. A newsletter would let me curate highlights, share only the work I’m most proud of, and make it worth people’s time without overwhelming them.
- Reviving My Art-Exclusive Discord
Discord has become my main social outlet, and I think it could be a great space for art-focused discussion. I might repurpose my current server or start fresh—I’m still deciding. Either way, it could be a nice perk for Patreon subscribers.
- Website & Patreon Overhaul
I plan to simplify my website—more gallery space, fewer words. I built it during a phase when I thought classical realism was the only legitimate art form. That opinion is long gone, so it’s time for an update.
With more digital content on the way, I’ll also expand what I offer Patreon supporters and may add another subscription tier.
All of this is still in the works, but I’m moving toward it fast. If you’re not growing, you’re dying.
