I'm still working on my Spain drawings; they were all drawn from live observations and now I need to finish adding watercolor to them. I'll upload eventually. I did not want to haul all my watercolor stuff through airport security otherwise I would've finished everything across the pond.

My activity and followers on Instagram have increased considerably over the past month. A lot of life models and figure artists have been interacting with me more which is nice. I hope the growth continues because that means more visibility for my work. We live in a time where one online post, comment, video or image could instantly cause a tidal wave of attention. In the back of my mind I suppose I'm just waiting for that; hoping that what I'm doing will connect me with the right person or group and more people can see my creative visions.

I'm still on the fence about applying for larger shows/exhibitions until I've developed an oil painting technique that feels authentic to me. I've been working on it in the background, but the joys of ink and watercolor have been keeping me busy in the studio. Oil is the prime time; an opportunity to converse with viewers on a much deeper level than watercolor or ink. I discussed my oil painting struggles with some local artists and they suggested using a surface other than a stretched canvas to get the effects I want. I'm going to look into buying some primed wood surfaces.

I continue to work on finding the sweet spot of realism and artistic expression in my work. Too much realism only leads the viewer down an erotic path, and too much expression shows a lack of discipline and reduces the real beauty of the female form. I need my viewers to stop and really see my work; understand that the time and effort spent seeking an understanding of the women in my drawings is the same type of effort we need to put into the real women of the world today. We have come a long ways, but we are still so far away from true equality in everything.
