Time is the most valuable resource of all; we're given a limited amount of it and we never know exactly how much we have until it's too late.
I currently have a full time job that is completely unrelated to Art, so I have to create whenever I get the chance, and I can't let it get in the way of my 7a-4p.
I adopted Adolph Menzel's mantra of "not a day without a line", so I draw every day, even if it's just the line work of an object on a table, or a face with some background.
During the work week I head to Chaplin Park and draw over every lunch hour. Sometimes it's from reference photos and textbooks, other times it's from my surroundings.
At some point after work I'll sit in the studio and either paint or draw, this time it's a little more focused since I've got everything at my disposal and I'm in a setting that radiates creativity. I've also started keeping sketchbooks around the house so I can get a drawing in any chance I get.
I'm at the point where the disappointment of not drawing everyday outweighs "being drained" or "too tired" to create.
I leave the "office work" of my art stuff for the weekends, which is just website maintenance & social media check ins. I'm making a conscious effort to try and interact on social media when I have some downtime, instead of just posting things, but it's hard to find authenticity with all the bots and clout chasers.
