Lots of watercolors this week. I know how mobile and convenient watercolors can be and I wanted to give them a try, since I feel like they'd be great for my lunch breaks during the work week.
A lot of artists use watercolors as quick "sketchy" mediums, but Andrew Wyeth and Egon Schiele used them as a primary medium. Perhaps that's a route I could take?
The paper I initially bought is too coarse and water absorbent, I'm not getting the kind of effect I want. I had some vellum/bristol paper on hand so I tried that and it worked very well. The antler study from one of Andrew Wyeth's studies was done on the Bristol and it felt a lot better. The rest of the watercolors were done on a 140lb arches pad.
Below are three recent works from me; if you're interested in seeing everything I've done please subscribe to my Patreon for $5 a month where you will see ALL my work and can get early access to buy art before the public.
