My consultation last week got me thinking about the consultant's criticisms when I went into my usual drawing practice over my lunch break. I applied two of his suggestions to my drawings this week: one, was I started signing all my stuff. Every single page, no matter how puny or flimsy or inadequate. Second, I focused entirely on "narrative" or "story" while I drew. Or at least I tried.
Forcing myself to tell a story doesn't quite feel authentic, but I understand where he's coming from. Some people can't come to their own conclusions so they need to be told what's going on in an artwork.
Anyway, I created the "Play" series. Each set took me forty minutes or less and I included a feminine form and some other element. They're just ballpoint pen drawings. When I use ink, I feel more confident about what I'm drawing since I can't erase anything, and if I do need to cover something up then I'm going to have to put it in shadow.
Once again, my weaknesses are very clear: hands and feet. Looks like it's back to the drawing board and more discipline next week.
We also talked about some business/marketing things, including some website functionality that I needed to fix. He mentioned using consistent, routine, posting and the free advertising that social media gives; but it's extremely hard for me to push my favorite subject of women when Meta's banhammer smacks me every time I post a naked breast or cheeks.
Below are four recent works from me; if you're interested in seeing everything I've done please subscribe to my Patreon for $5 a month where you will see ALL my work and can get early access to buy art before the public.
